A photographic exhibition traces the work of the contemporary artist couple, famous for their ephemeral, gigantic works in iconic sites around the world. On view between Pont Neuf and Pont au Change from September 3 to October 3, 2021.
In September, Paris pays a final tribute to Christo, the artist who died on May 31, 2020. While the Arc de Triomphe project comes to life from September 18 to October 3, an exhibition devoted to the work of the famous couple he formed with Jeanne-Claude, who passed away in 2009, will be held on the banks of the Seine, between the Pont-Neuf and the Pont au Change, from September 3 to October 3, 2021.
Entitled "Realized projects", this photographic exhibition comprises 24 panels evoking the twenty or so projects carried out by Christo and Jeanne-Claude around the world. From painting to sculpture to architecture, the couple have transcended the traditional boundaries of art with their temporary works.
Works include "The Gates", New York (Central Park, 2005), "The Floating Piers", Italy (Lake Iseo), "The Pont-Neuf Wrapped", Paris (1985); "Wrapped Reichstag", Berlin (1995), "Wrapped Coast", Sydney (1969), and "Surrounded Islands", Miami (1983).
A digital guide will be made available to visitors via the Bloomberg Connects mobile app. This immersive guide will complement the visit to the photo exhibition, presenting sketches, photos, videos, as well as previously unpublished recordings and texts. It will also provide details to facilitate a visit to the installations.
The guide will be available to download free of charge from September 3 on the Bloomberg Connects app from Google Play or the App Store.
